Canzone che si interroga su cosa sia l’amore, e su come questo sentimento venga percepito e cambi durante gli anni che passano, da bambini ad adolescenti ad adulti, “Summer fading (late love song)” è un brano cangiante che, ad ogni fase della vita narrata dal testo fa corrispondere un arrangiamento diverso, pur restando un brano dalla classica forma strofa-ritornello-strofa (un po’ come accade in “Strawberry fields forever” dei Beatles). Si passa da un dream pop iniziale (infanzia) allo shoegaze con l’ingresso di batteria e basso (adolescenza), fino all’alternative rock dell’interludio e della parte finale (età adulta). Le influenze sono tanto da ricercare nei Muse quanto nei Pink Floyd e nei Radiohead.
