“Distractions” is a word that felt immediately right for this album.
All the songs featured on it were made bit by bit, in the evenings after work, on weekends etc, so in a way in between life and its “distractions”.
I feel that distractions take way too much space in my life (first of all, well of course, checking my phone). This record is dedicated to all those interstitial moments you finally focus and do what you love doing; in my case: making music and possibly not looking at a screen.
I like to say that this record is “un-produced” by me.
Almost a year ago I started working on some of these songs with my drummer to get ready for some gigs in the US. Starting from a live perspective and approach, this record simply celebrates and captures some raw aspects of creating music live while adding some weird sounds you probably wouldn’t put on a classic alternative rock record.
By some people, music can be considered a background for something else, but for me it just has to be at times disturbing and even not perfect, basically just something that moves you. My “good” kind of distraction.
