Dopo il primo singolo The Electric Muse, già trasmesso dalle radio di tre continenti, i Monoscopes ritornano con Hey Atlas. La nuova canzone è in uscita il 5 gennaio 2024 per Big Black Car Records, ed è anch’essa tratta dal secondo disco della band Endcyclopedia, in uscita il 26 gennaio 2024.
Hey Atlas è un antidoto all’ansia. A volte la complessità della vita ci porta a sentire sulle spalle tutto il peso del mondo, come Atlante, il personaggio mitologico che dà il titolo alla canzone. Ma il peso si può mollare, ci si può lasciare andare, o quantomeno provarci.
Il brano incrocia la psichedelia gospel degli Spiritualized con le ballate rock dei R.E.M. e le melodie power pop dei Big Star. Il risultato è una canzone dalle atmosfere insieme meditative e consolatorie, con una melodia che non si dimentica e un ritornello con un forte crescendo emotivo.
Il singolo è accompagnato da un video girato da Samuele Gottardello (aka Blak Sagaan), e da un lato B virtuale, On the Line (Light up the Day), una canzone ispirata a un famoso episodio di violenza da parte delle forze dell’ordine in Italia.
