Let’s say someone changes their mind, professor. What advantage would there be?

Most people convince themselves there’s no advantage to be gained by switching from their first choice, so they stick with it. However the best choice would be to make the switch. When you first made a choice you had a one in three chance of getting it right, but when you’re offered the possibility to switch then mathematically you should, because once you’ve been shown that one of the other two choices was definitely wrong then your chance of now winning the prize if you switch is two out of three, and not one out of two as most people would wrongly assume.

So, Pascal, what are you going to choose? Stick or twist?
PASCAL
I’m going to change.
HELLSBERG
My dear Pascal. I see you’re a man capable of thinking clearly. Or you’re just lucky. Naturally, I need to ensure I’m making a solid investment. So, please tell the reasons behind your choice.
PASCAL
If my first choice, box A, was right and contained the ‘prize’, then once you’d eliminated a box then switching meant I would definitely be poisoned. On the other hand, if box A contained poison then switching meant I would definitely win the prize. How much chance was there of choosing the right box to begin with, so being penalised by changing? One in three. How much chance was there of choosing a poisoned box to begin with, and so benefitting from the change? Two out of three.
