– Buongiorno, cominciamo dal titolo. Cosa vuol dire?
– "Winston Smith" è il nome del protagonista di 1984. Ed è anche un gioco di pronuncia sul Mito dei The Winstons: "The Winston's Myth". Ma questi son solo inutili dettagli. Il metodo per fare le cose è quello di non pensare troppo. La libertà d'azione è l'unico che fa stare bene, e il rapporto umano è l'unica preziosa scuola compositiva. Alcuni definiscono questa attitudine Rock'nRoll. Altri semplicemente "vita".
– Diteci, signori Winstons, che disco è Smith?
– Ci siamo trovati dopo alcune session londinesi in quello che fu l'home studio di Mike Oldfield nel Buckinghamshire e altri studi sparsi per il nord Italia con talmente tanto materiale da ipotizzare un disco doppio. Dopo un lungo tentativo di organizzazione abbiamo ascoltato tutto e abbiamo optato per un lavoro unico che rappresentasse al meglio la band hic et nunc. Solo ora che il disco è finito, missato dal super Tommaso Colliva in stato di grazia, abbiamo capito cosa abbiamo in mano e cosa stiamo per consegnare alla gente.
